Jr. Master Gardeners

The Junior Master Gardener (JMG) program educates participants about where their food comes from, how it grows, and the importance of fruits and vegetables in a healthy diet.

Organized in conjunction with Utah State University Extension 4-H and located at Thanksgiving Point’s Farm Country, JMG is an intensive summer gardening program for children ages 7-12.

At the beginning of the summer program, with the assistance of Thanksgiving Point’s teen volunteers, youth select which items they will grow. The students choose to grow everything from tomatoes and squash to pumpkins and green beans. For example, the pizza garden is an area youth plant everything needed to make a pizza: tomato, basil, onions, garlic, and peppers.
