Museum of Ancient Life

Roam among the dinosaurs, explore a Carboniferous Forest, and dive deep into a Cretaceous Ocean at the Museum of Ancient Life. Come visit one of the world’s largest displays of mounted dinosaurs with 60 complete dinosaur skeletons in our galleries, along with more than 50 hands-on exhibits. This is the destination to enjoy learning about our pre-historic animals, playing with toy dinosaurs in the Erosion Table, and digging for fossils in the quarry dig.

Also, be sure to check out the working paleontology lab where workers are unearthing real dinosaur bones. Right now, the lab is working on a 150-million-year-old long neck dinosaur called a Barosaurus. You can even pretend to be a paleontologist yourself in the Junior Paleo Lab by casting your own fossil and drilling a real fish fossil to take home.

If you want to make a night of it, spend the evening at Late Night with Rex, held once a month, where you go on a scavenger hunt through the museum, take fun paleontology classes, and get popcorn and drinks with a 3D movie at the Mammoth Screen. Whether you come by day or by night, the Museum of Ancient Life will be a lively adventure you'll never forget.

If you think math is boring, think again! You and your family can experience math in a whole new way at both the Museum of Ancient Life and Museum of Natural Curiosity. Geometry Playground, our final yearlong exhibition from San Francisco’s Exploratorium, will change the way you think about geometry and math. It is designed to engage your hands, brain, and body in playful investigations of this most visible branch of math.

Each museum will have a different piece of the exhibit so you can come and explore all sorts of different items with each visit.

Separate admission required for each venue.  Geometry Playground is generously sponsored by Adobe.
